Mark travelled out to Tanzania and met up with Mugisha to attend and support the meeting once again. This time it was in Tanga, situated on the coast in the north of the country. It is an area close to the heart of SWIFTSS being just a short distance from Muheza, where things began for us (to read more about that, click here).
These meetings are an important opportunity for us to remain engaged with the Tanzanian Surgical Community, as well as keep abreast of current thinking and developments. It is fantastic to hear about the recent advances in Specialist Surgical Care, for example the development of complex vascular services and the success of the SILO bag programme for neonates with gastroschisis. As well as to listen to and engage in discussions about the direction of future developments and the various challenges faced. And of course, to network and socialise.
It was a great meeting once again so our thanks and congratulations to the organisers.
