Mark and Mugisha enjoyed giving a joint keynote presentation at the GASOC* 2022 Sustainable Global Surgery conference yesterday. The ‘in person’ portion of the event was hosted at the lovely Sheffield City Hall, with over 150 further delegates from 50 countries joining virtually through the Medall platform. The programme was excellent, and we would like to thank the organisers for both the invitation and the quality of the event.
The incredibly lengthy UK visa application process meant that plans had to change at the last minute and Mugisha joined virtually from Tanzania. However, we worked with the organisers to overcome this and managed to put together a combined in-person / virtual presentation that was received well. It was fantastic to share the story of SWIFTSS and the TNMHP, as well as hearing about so many other Global Health initiatives from a range of other inspiring speakers.
