Having overcome a number of challenges and obstacles, we are delighted to have welcomed Dr Mugisha Nkoronko to the UK. Mugisha is a Specialist Surgeon in Tanzania and the Tanzania Surgical Association (TSA) lead for the TNMHP (mesh project). He is also the President Elect of the Medical Association of Tanzania. As well as having a number of meetings to discuss project progress, successes, challenges and future strategy, we were able to offer him brief Clinical Observership at both Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust and Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which he has found interesting, useful and insightful. Around his busy schedule, we hope he also had enough time to enjoy a little bit of British culture.
Having been so warmly welcomed in Tanzania throughout our time working there, it is a genuine honour reciprocate that hospitality and to host him here in the UK. Many thanks to all those involved in making it such a great success. Long may our partnerships and collaborations flourish.
Mugisha had this to say about his visit:
“My time in the UK has been exceptional, exposed to the NHS system and how it works. I have met the loving colleagues and brilliant friends new and past. The experience, however, for the short term has granted remarkable take-home lessons, expanded perspective and compelled me to move from my comfort zones. The future is great and I am looking for deepening and profound collaborations between the UK and Tanzania that enrich the relationships between citizens of these two countries with long lasting relationships”
