St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Korogwe (Tz)

St. Joseph’s Health Centre Kwamndolwa is a small private health facility, run by the local convent, serving the immediate rural population just outside Korogwe. The passion and audacity of the nuns have created an oasis for healthcare that is inspiring.

We were delighted to provisionally enrol the centre as a ‘bonus’ during phase 1.  However we returned in June 2025 and completed this induction process more formally. Sr Temba is the sole surgeon here and our programme has enabled her to perform mesh hernia surgery by providing simple additional infrastructure (a suitable autoclave to sterilise the mesh) and a supply of the mesh.
