Korogwe Town Hospital (Tz)

Korogwe is a short journey (45min by car) from Muheza, also in the Tanga region of Tanzania. Korogwe Town Hospital is a Designated District Hospital and an important place in Tanzania’s journey in Mesh hernia repair. It has been visited by Hernia International for over 10 years with multiple missions over that period resulting in over 650 hernias being repaired with mesh (the same mesh as we are using in the TNMHP). Sr Temba is arguably the most experienced mesh hernia surgeon in the country and an incredibly humble individual who was delighted to join our programme. We have sought to complement the work of Hernia International, providing some additional support and infrastructure for Sr Temba and her team.
