Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre [KCMC], Moshi (Tz)

KCMC is a 630 bedded Regional Referral, Teaching and Univeristy Hospital located at the base of the iconic Mount Kilimanjaro.

Arguably one of the leading healthcare facilities in the country and benefiting from many collaborations, the medical services provided are crucial for the healthcare of the population of Northern Tanzania. A collaboration between KCMC and Northumbria in the UK, resulted in the establishment of a mesh hernia service several years ago, using a mesh produced and packaged by the Northumbria Team in the UK.

Now a well-established service, we were keen to collaborate further and were delighted that KCMC and Northumbria embraced the TNMHP. KCMC continue with their service supported by Northumbria, adding their data to our project and providing key benchmarking metrics and support to our programme. They are a leading training centre, disseminating experience of Mesh Hernia repair to those that train there. An invaluable resource and their expert Surgeons are key members of our local faculty.
