We are delighted to share the ongoing successes that Mugisha enjoys as he continues to work tirelessly to help drive up the standards of Surgical Care in Tanzania. Drawing together his many roles, he helped mastermind The 1st Symposium on Organ Transplantation in Tanzania which was a great success. It was held at Domiya Estate on 6th May 2026 and organized by Benjamin Mkapa Hospital in collaboration with the University of Dodoma.
As part of the National Hospital’s 10 Year Anniversary celebrations, the symposium brought together experts and stakeholders to share knowledge, skills, and experiences in advancing organ transplantation services in Tanzania and beyond. Key resolutions included scaling up transplant services to encompass liver, cornea, heart, and deceased donor transplantation through strengthened collaboration, training, research, and strategic partnerships. It was noted that this was not just a historic event — it was a renewed commitment to excellence in care, innovation, and lifesaving collaboration.
